Emmy Storms
  • 1988 (Netherlands);
  • Studied violin at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Jaring Walta and received a grade of ten with distinction for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees;
  • Continued her studies with Philippe Graffin in Brussels;
  • Won prizes at several competitions, including Prinses Christina Concours, Iordens Viooldagen, Davina van Wely Concours and National Violin Competition Oskar Back;
  • Received the Anton Kersjes Prize and won the GrachtenfestivalPrijs 2019;
  • Forms the Magma Duo with pianist Cynthia Liem;
  • Performs frequently with her Trio Suleika and is concertmaster of the Ciconia Consort;
  • Plays South American and Irish folk music, has a folk music group ‘Looking for Matthew’ and loves Irish fiddle, Jewish klezmer, tango and gypsy music;
  • Plays on a violin by Ferdinando Gagliano, made in Naples c. 1778, provided to her by the National Musical Instruments Fund.
