Ensemble Manzanissimo plays party music by Boccherini, Paganini and a brand new piece by Roukens. Guitarist Martin Kaaij joins these top string players from various Dutch orchestras.
Stichting Appeltaartconcerten (Apple Pie Concerts Foundation) brings classical music to people who, for whatever reason, cannot go to an “ordinary” concert hall (anymore). For instance, concerts are played in care homes, psychiatric institutions and TBS clinics. In addition, concerts are organised in accessible community centres, libraries and neighbourhood theatres.
By listening to classical music together with family members, carers, neighbours and volunteers, the Apple Pie Concerts are also special social events. Through the music, we try to touch everyone with beauty. Because the distance between audience and listeners is small, an intimate and special atmosphere is created. The apple pie, served at intermission or afterwards, symbolises warmth and security.
