Edvard Erdal

Edvard Erdal
  • 1996 (Norway)
  • Studied with Stephan Barratt-Due in Oslo and Ulf Wallin in Berlin
  • Is currently assistant concertmaster of the Norwegian Opera Orchestra
  • Is part of the Opus13 String Quartet, which won second prize at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition
  • Performs regularly at most major festivals in Norway and has played with Leif Ove Andsnes, Alisa Weilerstein, Tabea Zimmermann, Eric Lu and Andreas Brantelid, among others
  • Was guest concertmaster with many Norwegian orchestras, such as the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. In the fall of 2022, Edvard played as principal 2nd violins in the Oslo Philharmonic, with performances such as The Proms and a European tour with concerts in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie and Wiener Konzerthaus conducted by chief conductor Klaus Mäkelä
  • Plays a 1776 Tommasi Eberle, generously borrowed from Dextra Musica
