Studied with David Geringas and took master classes with Heinrich Schiff, Boris Pergamenschikow, Frans Helmerson and Siegfried Palm;
Won first prize at the ARD International Music Competition in 1994;
Performs as a soloist and in various chamber music formations in Europe, Japan, South America and the US;
Chamber music partners include the Artemis Quartet, Carmina Quartet and Minguet Quartet, and musicians such as Kolja Blacher, Isabelle Faust, Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Antoine Tamestit and Hélène Grimaux;
Professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin since 2004;
Since 2006 solo cellist of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra at the invitation of Claudio Abbado;
Plays the ‘Ex-Servais’ cello made by Giovanni Grancino in 1697.
