They are neither narrow-minded or conservative: the “progressive strings Vienna” with violinist Klemens Bittmann and cellist Matthias Bartolomey. Both have been together since 2012 and invent an immense rich sound universe. Lyricism next to excitement, dreaminess next to magic. A celebrity like Nikolaus Harnoncourt judged: “Superiorly composed, played fantastically – I listened with surprise and enthusiasm!” Not only this nestor of early music was so enthusiastic: the press also praised their concerts and CDs, with catchy statements such as “they spontaneously connect groovy intimacy with powerful rock”. In Utrecht, Matthias Bartolomey and Klemens Bittman play their Dynamo program – also the name of their third CD. Matthias Bartolomey earned his spurs as a solo cellist in Concentus Musicus Wien and Klemens Bittmann studied both classical and jazz violin; he also excels on the mandola. And, by the way, both men can also sing!
