  • 1996 (Netherlands)
  • Was admitted at the age of six to the School for Young Talent of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where she received violin lessons from Coosje Wijzenbeek
  • Continued her viola studies with Mikhail Zemtsov and obtained her bachelor’s degree in 2018 with a 10 with distinction for musical personality. In 2019 she started her master’s degree with Nils Mönkemeyer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich
  • Attended masterclasses with Tabea Zimmermann, Alfred Brendel, Nobuko Imai, Hatto Beyerle and Anner Bijlsma, among others
  • Was part of the Academy of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra
  • Performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Royal Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Nanagen Orchestra and the Dutch String Guild.
  • Has been part of the Animato Quartet since its foundation in 2014, which reached the finals of the Grachtenfestival Concours that same year as a public favourite. In 2017, Animato received the quartet stipend from the Anton Kersjes Fund
  • With the support of the Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrumentfonds and the Princess Christina Concours, Elisa Karen was able to purchase a beautiful viola and bow
