Our programmer Janine Jansen has not only invited plenty of familiar musicians such as Amihai Grosz, Jens-Peter Maintz, and Boris Brovtsyn to come to Utrecht, but also new star performers like violist Timothy Ridout, Duo BarthlomeyBittmann and the Nationaal Vrouwen Jeugdkoor. It’s going to be a nice mix of well known names, arrtists who are new to the Utrecht audience, fresh talent and a next generation young artists. For example Janine will, together with her international friends, perform extensively with musicians like violinist Noa Wildschut (photo) and cellist Alexander Warenberg, performing Mendelssohn Octet and Bartok Divertimento.
On the programme you will find the wonderful string sextets by Korngold and Brahms (opus 18), Schuberts well known String Quintet in C with two celli and the Kammersinfonie by Schönberg. We will be closing the festival with a long set of Walses by Johann Strauss jr..
Just like in previous years our famous Kerkenmarathon will be part of the programme, as also the Verborgen Juwelen series. Specially for the young audience the festival is taking part in My 1st Festival on Saturday and on Sunday you should be sure not to skip the spectacular family show ‘De Boom met het Oor’ with the Ardemus Saxophone Quartet. And on Monday morning don’t miss the Wandelconcerten which will take you to the unique venues Paushuize, Sonnenborgh, Maltezerhuis and Palladio. Starting in the Geertekerk where Janine, together with her father, will open this musical tour through one of the most beautiful cities of Holland.
